An Eighteenth-Century Woodshop

Peeking into this old shed in Duxbury, Massachusetts, behind an old house now used as a school, professor Ritchie Garrison moved aside some stored junk and discovered what seems to be a nearly intact carpenter's shop dating to 1789.
"I said 'holy cow!'" recalled Garrison, of his first look.
Of course there have been modifications, like those windows, but much remains, including old workbenches.

The shop belonged to a master joiner named Luther Sampson. Amazing, the things one can still stumble on in our thoroughly explored world.
